about: the nickname
hi. i am the big babou, as i am known online since i chose this nickname around the millenium shift, almost a decade now. the name refers to a track named the sound of the big babou by the french electronic music artist laurent garnier.
the track is just great! back in time i bought the vinyl and i played it at every party where it fit. and even where it did not fit. the sounds used in this track and the simple melodic component showed me some parallels between acoustic situations and the human behaviour at all. i´d like to explain my theory that i had back in the new years of 2k and i still have (a bit).
if you like techno, you gonna like the sound of the big babou. despite the notoric anti-heros i think that track fits the needs of an electronic music enthusiast due to the minimalism (for that time), the club moves this track is able to create and the simple sound itself – including the nasty bassline and the reverse scratches that count down to the kick.
if you do not like techno, you won´t get warm with that sound. propably, most of the visitors won´t even listen to the track longer than twenty seconds and say “no time for ugly sounds without a vocal”. and in a way this seems intended to me. most of the techno tracks just exist to create some individual sphere that attract one kind of minds and separate itself from another kind of mind. this is okay, though.
the sound of the big babou is still a nice track to me, and i still play it every now and then. so now you know what my sound is. and please, don´t get me wrong. no claim that this song was produced by me, i give big respect to laurent garnier. he´s one of the big inspirations for my ear.
you must have been part of the sun dawn @ time warp floor 5 in ´08 to know what feeling this man can put 1:N!
more to come.
