bfbc2 error failed to login to soldier

if you own the ea/dice game battlefield bad company 2 and played your soldier up to some serious level you´d definitely would not like what the developers might call the database layout of the login system for this game. to me it feels like we all paid a bunch of good money to ea to get a better-tested beta version of bfbc2 to own. despite the low performance of some weekend´s stats db of bfbc2 the login systems keeps coming up with some real pain in the ass bug that seems to correllate with the clan tag.

i cannot log into my soldier anymore!

if that´s what you´re facing today try this:

  • try to come thru to the soldier login window (where you select your soldier) — in my case the game kept showing me that i have no soldier and need to create a new one (on lvl 44 for god´s sake)
  • remove your clan tag and try to re-login. this time you´ll receive the same error i think, but then
  • just re-login again and now you can select your soldier again, and also put the clan tag back in.

that solved it today for me. and i really consider not to choose battlefield 3 since ea seems to give a crap for the lots of bfbc2 customers since they seem not providing any updates for this game anymore. i mean, how old is this game anyway?

far from a release quality at all…

i´m very disappointed and wonder when games like of a quality like unreal tournament 2004 come back to stage in times of downloadable/paid content that

  • run on almost every system to own
  • provide usable server browsers
  • allow for community content like maps and mods and chars and what have you
  • have publishers that interact with the players in social media/forums (and reply and fix the problems)
  • allow for real dedicated servers

yes, that would make my wishlist for today.

oh, and just to add a little tale that all of you bfbc2v players will recognize: the guys at ea really think we want to re-assign the kit specs -everytime- after we have switched to vietnam/original and played a class. so, if you happen to play as recon in vietnam your weapon settings in bfbc2 will be reset; and vice versa. how -cool- is this? never got what a great feature that makes >> always set up your stuff from the beginning. if the game was not that cool, i´d long have deinstalled it!

slept well?

recently i reactived my smartphone from it´s oblivion and hence all the mobile activities were a bit cutoff during the last weeks. let me say months, but that was not only the issue with the smartphone. damn cell battery is becoming weak a half year after purchase.

i thought about the virtual effigy most people produce. fortunately, my activites mostly stay controlled and no excessive drinking bout became evident (afaik) in the network (right now). don´t know if that is the main aspect of data security but the trail we leave in the sand is quite persistent. wow, i just wanted to write down that my blog is underpopulated which is a pity, and i end up contemplating about the virtual identity issue.

give me a few posts to habituate myself to blogging. nevertheless, i´m cool with 1-to-n communication (where n includes you, whether you´re bot or human). leaving us defining when an entitity will be able to extract the semiotic meaning of itself, i´d rather go now and have some real life – beginning with a tasty shisha.

and i hope my smartphone will at least stand by for the next few hours, calling that a “milestone”.

t-shirts do matter

for long i wanted to scribble down some sentences to show my support to the cool crew of 3dsupply but i didn´t find the mood or the time. sounds lame, yeah. but those guys know guys like me and have developed an evil masterplan to gain more links to their page than adobe´s got to the download page of their pdf viewer.

i ordered at 3dsupply´s twice and always received the goods fast and got a colored bunch of flyers packed with it, quite interesting stuff. and the current link4shirt campaign is even cooler.

so if you read this and fortuna is online, i might be wearing this cool new shirt to the streets. or maybe i´m just hanging on the couch, whatever fits first.

size does matternow, why this shirt? simple: i got the star and the flower already, and i think that shows what sprites i am made of since the game boy era. and i totally say nintendo is the real console designer! if the shirt would make those 8bit growing sounds everytime one pushes the shroom it would be even cooler!

after i get that shirt, next to be ordered will be the mega shroom shirt. so long.

got fooled?

yesterday was a day that most people use to release stuff that is designed to fool you. the calendar puts this date to april 1st and we call it april´s fool. I just thought about whether or not i am supposed to feel bad about not being trapped with an april joke yesterday. Have you been fooled?

I think it is going to be really fooled in a time where every content is tagged and commented instantly and got the date stamped on it.

Two cool news that got my attention yesterday

  • Twitter switch for Guardian, after 188 years of ink
  • TYPO3 development licence sold – T3DD09 cancelled
  • I think there are a lot of good fooling news out there, I just hadn´t more time to look around – if you have good fooling links, you´re welcome to add them for me as comment.

why is your blog in English?

it looks like I am German, so why the heck am I writing in English?

To make it short: I didn´t think about it, I just started. I like English.

Most of the web content I read is in English. I think that English is the way to go when writing for the web (despite the optional sacrifices to translate the stuff to all other languages, too).  All the documentation of software, the coding languages themselves and the most web users are in English, or at least understand it. So it is not so new to be foreign tongue but still write English as expression. For instance, the TYPO3 community is adviced to speak English to have a base language for developers from everywhere. I like this idea, though it is kind of self-evident.

You know, I´m not about to say  I would not like a good spoken word in German. I like German, too. But I understand the web as without borders, in defiance of my idea of all the technical restraints. So I want to have users from all over the world on my website, that´s the hint I will give.

Now, that I can be ensured that no German-only reader will have read to this point, I thank you others who do not think that English is acceptable to read more than the few words you get to read when you watch (german) tv. Not that I like the tv much, far from it! But I could not resist asking myself why these folks could not leave all the slogans and tv shows that come from Germany just in German.

There is one other aspect I very like when blogging like this. It´s simply training for my English skills. So if stuff sounds itchy on my blog, it´s me – training. Or you are listening to one of my self produced tunes.

    Have a nice day.
